Here is my 2023 wrapped up... a reflection of my art journey.
In 2019 I discovered art. It wasn’t something I had been practising since I was a child, nor do I now spend days on end with a pencil in my hand sketching.
Since this discovery 4 years ago, art has been my calling to understand myself and the world I live in. The cliché saying “I quit my corporate job” is true, I did… I quit my job and enrolled at University to study Visual Arts full-time.
Two years have now passed since enrolling and within that time I have started private art lessons, exhibited in two art exhibitions, collaborated with other artists, started my artist blog and headed overseas to develop my cultural understanding to grow my practice.
I’m most grateful for having people who support and encourage my journey, reminding me that art is my truth, my path.
As I sit in this mode of reflection, the most vital lesson I continue to learn is that of collaboration or learning from professionals in the industry, past and present, is the greatest resource for the growth of my practice.
Without having access to a variety of artists far and wide, I consider my practice stagnant. To be the best at what you do, constant education is a must. And with that, I want to say thank you to all who have supported and encouraged me throughout my journey.
So as we wrap up 2023, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
