Manipulating Still-life came to me as I sat back in my studio and looked at my past manipulated images from University, wondering what I'd like to accomplish next. I had this pretty big canvas ready to go, that had been sitting around for some time, and I just decided to go for it. Overall, I am impressed by the subtlety of colour, composition and storytelling and pleased with the final result.
About Manipulating Still-life?
Manipulating still-life is a collage of Italian culture, manipulated to re-contextualise a fixed narrative. The act of tearing, cutting or scrunching the source images removes a familiar construction within these images and by creating a composition that reconstructs multiple images into one, it focuses on creating a new story. Although, your interpretation is yours to make.
